The transarchitectures of Isabel Herault and Yves Arnod resemble composite fusions out of which new states emerge to transmute the energies of the milieux in which they settle. They draw their suggestive power from transpositions and imaginative sources that are simultaneously archaic and futuristic. Beyond their relation to the landscape, they establish more fundamental connections, both physical and symbolic, in the manufacture of new ecosystems where the building finds its role in an equilibrium between the natural and the artefact, between rootedness and autonomy of form, mimicry and strengthness.
